Frequently Asked Questions

How do I clean Jo Davies Ceramics?

Most items can simply be cleaned with an ordinary sponge/cloth and soapy water.

However, the white crackle glaze may stain, dirt forming in the crackled surface of the glaze. This can be resolved by soaking the whole item in diluted bleach (dilute according to packet instructions). Small necked items can be cleaned with a bottle brush and/or be soaked in soapy water and cleaned with a cloth or sponge. Gilded items should be cleaned differently, see below.

Can I put Jo Davies Ceramics in the dishwasher?

Items which have a high shine surface (For The Table tableware) can be put into the dishwasher, the white crackle glaze, and black manganese glaze, cannot. However, as with all handmade items, hand wash where possible as dishwashers can be very corrosive.

How can I clean Jo Davies Ceramics Gilded items?

Gilded items must be handled with great care. Soaking is not advised for these items and dusting with a dry cloth on the gilded area is recommended. Use water minimally to clean these items, do not scrub or rub with anything other than a soft cloth.
